So.... the girls go to the auction. I send them with some money to buy some grooming tack. What do they
bring home? A skinny, $100, 25 year old, pitiful looking horse. I ask... "Where's the tack and what is that?".
They say they couldn't help it... she's a lesson pony for the barn...yeah...that's it... a lesson horse... hmmmm. So,
they know I am a sucker and I will not say no to this poor animal. Who could turn away a wooley half arab half walkaloosa.
What the hell? I've never seen that mix, but it worked for her. So, this spotted horse won my heart. She
was seperated from her foal that night and you would of never known it. Her personality was A+.
The next morning I take another look at her. She was about 400 pounds underweight. She was a rack of bones.
I wish I would of taken a picture of her when she first got here. It was horrible. I started grooming her and
noticed that I couldn't get the mud off of her legs. It was grown into her skin. Out comes the clippers in the
dead of winter and I shave her legs and belly. Trust me, it was the only way to get the mud off. Great.
Now she looks like an Ostrige. I told everybody not to make fun of her, she was sensitive about it. I didn't want
to take her full coat off because it was so cold. Anyway, I get Paul (the vet) out and he falls in love with her...
not very typical of him... he offers to fix her teeth pro-bono. What? wow... of course I take him up on it.
Then I get the ferrier out. He works on what are supposed to look like hooves. I add Nutrena senior feed to her
diet and voila! she's gaining weight and looking 100% better. Guess I should thank the girls for bringing lady Popcorn
into my life. She's a doll and to top it off... she's a really nicely trained horse that is beginning her career in
teaching people about horses. Thanks a million girls, and I mean that... but next time... BRING ME THE GROOMING TACK!
